India criticises Pakistan Fitna al Hindustan narrative at UN Security Council

India's UN envoy condemned Pakistan's Fitna al Hindustan narrative as officially sponsored misinformation at a UN Security Council meeting on Afghanistan.

At a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Afghanistan on Monday, India's Permanent Representative Harish Parvathaneni sharply criticised Pakistan. He said Pakistan's use of the term Fitna al Hindustan amounted to officially sponsored misinformation and disinformation dressed in religious terminology. Parvathaneni described it as part of an organised factory of hate aimed at diverting attention from Pakistan's domestic failures. India also condemned Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan. The envoy stated that killing civilians during Ramadan violated international law and the principles of Islamic solidarity. According to the United Nations, at least 13 civilians were killed in Pakistani airstrikes in February 2026. By March, 42 civilians had been killed and 104 injured, with over 100,000 people displaced.
