Singer Julión Álvarez made a surprise appearance at the year-end posada for Jalisco's Public Security Secretariat leadership, invited by Secretary Juan Pablo Hernández, and performed for free due to their long-standing friendship.
Julión Álvarez, known for hits like 'El amor de su vida' and 'Te hubieras ido antes', made an unexpected appearance at an event organized for the operational and administrative high command of Jalisco's Public Security Secretariat (SSP). Secretary Juan Pablo Hernández, who has been friends with the artist for eight to ten years, extended the invitation informally, joking about the chance he might be asked to sing. 'Hey, do you have time to come to my posada? We invite you; just that, all the people will be there and you'll be the sensation, they'll ask you to sing', Hernández recalled.
After dinner, Álvarez performed five to seven songs, joined by a norteño group specifically hired for the celebration. In a video shared on social media, the singer clarified his participation was voluntary: 'This isn't an event where they say: “Julión Álvarez charged so much”. No, to avoid any bad interpretations'. Hernández confirmed there was no payment or coverage for expenses like lodging or flights, as Álvarez was already in Jalisco. Attendees included the director of Traffic Police, Jorge Alberto Arizpe García, and the general director of the Academy, Ana Sofía Barón Sánchez.
This is not the first time Álvarez has performed at events linked to public figures; in 2020, he sang at the wedding of Ovidio Guzmán's sister. Recently, in October 2025, he performed the narcocorrido 'El Malo de Culiacán' at the Feria Nacional de San Marcos in Aguascalientes, but authorities determined it did not promote crime and imposed no sanctions. In May of that year, he canceled a concert in Arlington, Texas, after U.S. immigration authorities revoked his visa. His presentations typically cost between 2.5 and 3 million pesos, according to specialized reports.
