Karnataka high court upholds cancellation of school's recognition

The Karnataka high court has upheld the state government's cancellation of recognition for a private school that had operated for 20 years on a fake certificate. Authorities found the managing society ran multiple schools under one certificate, diverted fees to unregistered accounts, and illegally operated a madrasa on campus. The education department revoked recognition on May 30, 2025, with the appellate authority endorsing it in January 2026.

The Karnataka high court has upheld the state government's decision to cancel recognition for a private school that had functioned for 20 years. The managing society had submitted a fake certificate claiming registration in 1979 in Mumbai under the Maharashtra Societies Registration Act.

State education authorities discovered that the society was operating schools under different names using a single recognition certificate. Fees collected from students were credited to accounts of an unregistered society, and a madrasa was being run illegally on the same campus.

The education department cancelled the recognition on May 30, 2025. The appellate authority endorsed the cancellation in January 2026. The high court confirmed the order citing these violations.
