The Kenya Revenue Authority has destroyed counterfeit goods valued at Ksh 218 million seized from Nairobi and the Coastal region.
The destruction took place at Envirosafe Limited in Athi River and a site in Voi, Taita-Taveta County. The goods included beer, spirits and bottled water found with counterfeit or non-activated excise stamps.
Chief Manager Michael Gichuki said the operation protects consumers and legitimate businesses from tax evasion. He added that the measures safeguard health, safety and economic well-being.
KRA urged the public to use its SOMA Label App to verify product authenticity before purchase.
