أتلفت هيئة الإيرادات الكينية سلعاً مقلدة تقدر قيمتها بـ 218 مليون شلن كيني، كانت قد صودرت من نيروبي ومنطقة الساحل.

تمت عملية الإتلاف في شركة "إنفيروسيف ليمتد" (Envirosafe Limited) في أثي ريفر، وفي موقع آخر في فوي بمقاطعة تايتا-تافيتا. وشملت السلع جعة ومشروبات روحية ومياهاً معبأة وُجدت عليها طوابع ضريبية مقلدة أو غير مفعلة.

وقال المدير العام مايكل غيتشوكيو إن هذه العملية تحمي المستهلكين والشركات القانونية من التهرب الضريبي، مضيفاً أن هذه التدابير تهدف إلى الحفاظ على الصحة والسلامة والرفاه الاقتصادي.

وحثت الهيئة الجمهور على استخدام تطبيق "SOMA Label" الخاص بها للتحقق من صحة المنتجات قبل شرائها.
