حث المعنيون في قطاع النشر في كينيا الحكومة على تعزيز القوانين لمكافحة قرصنة الكتب من أجل حماية المؤلفين وصناعة الأدب.

أكدت رابطة الناشرين الكينيين أن النشر غير القانوني يتسبب في خسائر تتجاوز ثلاثة مليارات شلن سنوياً. وجاءت تصريحات هؤلاء المعنيين خلال حفل توزيع جوائز "تي بي سي" للكتابة في نسخته الثانية، الذي أقيم في قاعة "جين بهافان" في منطقة لوريشو بنيروبي. وقال ساشين فارما، الرئيس التنفيذي لمركز "تكست بوك سنتر"، إن الجوائز تمنح الكتاب الناشئين منصة لاستعراض مواهبهم. ومن بين الفائزين جانيت مبوغوا عن كتاب "My First Time"، والدكتورة أنورادها خودا عن سلسلة "Noah and the Rainbow Promise Series 2"، وجاكسون بيكو عن كتاب "Big Little Fights".
