أصدرت لجنة حقوق الإنسان الكينية بيانًا تتهم فيه رؤساء كينيا وتنزانيا وأوغندا بالإشراف على عمليات الاختفاء القسري وقمع المعارضة.

أصدرت لجنة حقوق الإنسان الكينية بيانًا في 29 يونيو يربط بين الرؤساء ويليام روتو وسامية صولوحو حسن ويوري موسيفيني ونمط من عمليات الاختطاف والتعذيب وإسكات المنتقدين.

ودعا البيان القادة إلى إنهاء حالات الاختفاء القسري، والكشف عن مصير جميع المفقودين، ومحاكمة المسؤولين عن هذه الانتهاكات. كما طالب باستقالة المفتش العام للشرطة الكينية دوجلاس كانجا ونائبه.

وتضمنت الحالات المذكورة تحديدًا اعتقال سبعة مدافعين كينيين في 25 يونيو، والأنباء التي أفادت باختطاف الناشط ديفيد نيكينديكوا في تنزانيا في اليوم نفسه. كما حثت اللجنة السلطات على الكشف عن مصير ثلاثة ناشطين مفقودين وتوفير الرعاية الطبية لمن تم العثور عليهم.
