عائلات نشطاء مفقودين تمنح الحكومة مهلة 24 ساعة

منحت عائلات النشطاء ديفيس ليتشوما وماكميلان كياري وعبد العزيز مولو الحكومة مهلة مدتها 24 ساعة في 28 يونيو، مطالبة بالإفراج عنهم، وإلا فإنها ستدعو إلى احتجاجات على مستوى البلاد.

أكدت دائرة الشرطة الوطنية تلقيها بلاغاً بفقدان ديفيس ليتشوما، والذي تم تقديمه في مركز شرطة العاصمة في نيروبي. وذكرت الشرطة أنها ستتابع مزاعم الاختفاء القسري والتعذيب من خلال إجراء تحقيق شامل ومحايد. تحدث الآباء في مؤتمر صحفي يوم 28 يونيو معبرين عن قلقهم بشأن أبنائهم الذين اختفوا بعد اعتقالهم خلال احتجاجات 25 يونيو. وقالت مارغريت ليتشوما إن ابنها زارها في 24 يونيو وتم اعتقاله في اليوم التالي. أدان رئيس المحكمة العليا المتقاعد ديفيد ماراغا الحكومة لتجاهلها الدستور واتهم الشرطة بالعمل خارج نطاق القانون. وهددت العائلات بتنظيم مظاهرات على مستوى البلاد إذا لم تتم تلبية مطالبهم.
