Les acteurs du secteur de l'édition au Kenya ont exhorté le gouvernement à renforcer les lois contre le piratage de livres afin de protéger les auteurs et l'industrie littéraire.

La Kenya Publishers Association a déclaré que l'édition illégale entraîne des pertes dépassant les trois milliards de shillings chaque année. Les acteurs du secteur se sont exprimés lors de la deuxième édition des TBC Penmanship Awards qui s'est tenue au Jain Bhavan Auditorium à Loresho, Nairobi. Le directeur général du Text Book Centre, Sachin Varma, a affirmé que ces prix offrent aux écrivains émergents une plateforme pour mettre en valeur leur talent. Parmi les lauréats figuraient Janet Mbugua pour My First Time, le Dr Anuradha Khoda pour la série Noah and the Rainbow Promise Series 2 et Jackson Biko pour Big Little Fights.
