The gathering, themed 'Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,' will convene leaders from the world's largest economies to address critical matters like sustainable economic growth.
National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac stated that Lee plans to outline South Korea's economic and climate policies while committing to a more proactive role on the international stage. With this being the first G20 summit hosted in Africa, Lee intends to reaffirm Seoul's dedication to broadening ties with the continent and supporting its development.
On the margins of the event, Lee will engage in several bilateral and multilateral discussions. He is set to meet with leaders from the MIKTA group—comprising Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey, and Australia—to explore enhanced cooperation on global challenges. Separate meetings with the leaders of France and Germany will focus on bilateral relations.
"President Lee will strengthen Korea's status as a responsible global member and lead efforts to create an environment necessary to restore the multilateral trade system," Wi told reporters on Thursday.
The three-day trip to South Africa concludes Lee's Middle East and Africa tour, which included stops in the United Arab Emirates and Egypt; he will proceed to Turkey on Monday.
