Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has poured cold water on rumors that his party might unite with the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) for local government elections later this year. The speculation arose from MKP president Jacob Zuma's visit to Malema's home in Limpopo on Friday, where Zuma offered condolences following the death of Malema's aunt, Martha Malema. During the visit, Zuma urged the two parties to join hands to achieve what he described as the total liberation of black people in South Africa. However, Malema made it clear that no political alliance was discussed. He stated: “We want to thank President Zuma and the MKP for coming to our homes and sending condolences it is only African to do so. It has nothing to do with political agreements or not. We belong to different political parties. We will never come together.” This response underscores the separate paths of the EFF and MKP despite Zuma's call for cooperation.
