Megan Moroney, the Nashville-based Georgia native, continues her rise in country music with the release of 'Wish I Didn't' on January 19, 2026. This energetic track serves as the third single from her third studio album, Cloud 9, scheduled for February 20. Produced by Kristian Bush—who also helmed her previous albums Am I Okay? (2024) and Lucky (2023)—the song was co-written by Emily Weisband, Hillary Lindsey, and Luke Laird. It features layered vocals, bright guitar textures, and driving beats, exploring themes of falling for a potential red flag with playful, frank lyrics. A standout line, "in the mood to carry songs instead of guns," has sparked significant social media buzz.
Moroney first announced Cloud 9 on November 11, 2025, building anticipation for the project. In a November PEOPLE StyleWatch digital cover story, she shared her enthusiasm: "It's the most excited I've been about an album release so far, and I think it's because I [had] the most time to work on this one." She described the album as written from a confident perspective, with her "feet... really planted," calling it her "favorite child" and her "best foot forward."
The single's music video, directed by Lauren Dunn and starring Dylan Efron—known from Dancing With the Stars and The Traitors—depicts a glossy romantic storyline with playful tension and hints of a darker turn. Fans have praised Efron's crossover appearance and reacted to teaser lines like "you've got a hell of a reputation" and "I can also make it rain." Online speculation ties the latter lyric to country singer Riley Green, fueled by theories of a past romance and a sunglasses moment in the video.
'Wish I Didn't' follows earlier singles 'Beautiful Things' and '6 Months Later' from Cloud 9.
