Mercedes has requested a right of review for George Russell's penalty from the Monaco Grand Prix. The move follows the FIA overturning Pierre Gasly's penalties and restoring his podium finish.
Mercedes argues that new evidence from the Gasly case justifies revisiting Russell's five-second pitlane speeding penalty. Team principal Toto Wolff said on Sunday night that the team wants a seat at the table for any decisions.
The request comes after official timekeeper Formula One Management admitted inaccuracies in Monaco pitlane measurements. McLaren and Red Bull have separately lodged intentions to appeal the Gasly outcome.
Russell's situation differs because he served a drive-through penalty instead of the original time penalty. Wolff acknowledged the chances of success appear slim but said the team seeks clarification from stewards.
Mercedes confirmed the process on Monday morning, with the FIA acknowledging receipt. No official FIA document has been issued yet as additional paperwork is required.
