Nicolás Rosales Pallares has taken on the role of senior vice president for Latin America at the UITP, an organization founded in 1885 that brings together over 2,000 authorities, operators, and experts in global public transport. The election came via a vote from 14 of 15 Regional Executive Committee members, showing broad support for his urban mobility record.
The appointment bolsters Mexico and Latin America's place in the global sustainable mobility agenda. The UITP advances clean, efficient transport systems through innovation and best practices. Rosales pointed to post-pandemic challenges, including slow demand recovery and shifts to private cars and apps. He advocates improving service quality, frequency, and cleanliness, formalizing 'hombre-camión' operations into modern firms with electric mobility, enhancing worker conditions, and increasing women operators.
He will speak at the 2026 International Transport Congress (17CIT), May 7-9 at the Centro Cultural Jaime Torres Bodet of the IPN, on efficient urban mobility. The event, with free registration at citamtm.org, focuses on concrete steps for inclusive systems.
