Kahan followed with the title track 'The Great Divide' and then 'Orange Juice,' a highlight from his breakthrough 2022 album Stick Season. During the set, Kahan addressed the melancholic tone of his music, joking, “The songs are really sad, I know that, so thank you guys for keeping your smiles on your faces. I’m leaving my Lexapro for you guys — I figure we can treat it like a take-one, leave-one penny system. Ten milligrams, severe side effects.” He closed with 'Paid Time Off,' another unreleased song from The Great Divide, which he described as “one of my favorite songs” from the record. The tune shifted from mellow to a plucky backporch groove, with lyrics including, “Spent a damn near perfect day/Just getting high at the outlet mall/People grow up and they move away/But you don’t care and I don’t mind at all.” The Great Divide arrives on April 24, with Kahan launching a North American tour in June that runs through August.
