A senior police officer in Skåne has been suspended from duty after being exposed by the pedophile-hunting site Dumpen. He is suspected of having chatted about sexual abuse of children and incest.
The police officer in Malmö arranged to meet what he believed were small children for sexual purposes, according to Dumpen. He was confronted by the site more than a week ago and fled in his car.
The man is said to have used a different name and job title in the contact. According to information given to SVT, he is alleged to have chatted from his workplace and used the police passport register.
The employer reported the man on Monday. The investigation is being handled by the department for special investigations.
– We received information on Monday that we perceive involves very serious crime in which an employee of ours is named, says deputy police chief Jarl Holmström to Sydsvenskan.
The man has been taken out of service pending further notice. He has been described as an experienced and appreciated colleague.
