Police have arrested a man in his 70s suspected of murdering a man in his 40s on an island in Stockholm's southern archipelago. The incident occurred in a villa on Friday evening. Police emphasize it is an isolated event with no danger to the public.
Police were alerted at 17:47 on Friday to a villa on an island in Stockholm's southern archipelago, in Haninge municipality. Another person in the villa made the call, with several people present.
Large police resources were deployed, including patrols, helicopter, piketen and sea police. About an hour later, a man in his 70s was arrested, suspected of the murder of the man in his 40s. The arrest proceeded calmly.
"There was a conflict between them," says police spokesperson Ola Österling. The two men knew each other previously, but police declined to specify their relationship. The victim's relatives have been notified.
The villa is cordoned off, with a technical examination ongoing into the evening. "It is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public," police state on their website.
