A 30-year-old man was arrested around 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, at Elinelund in Limhamn with a loaded pistol. Minutes earlier, he is suspected of chasing a man outside a residence and firing several shots. The victim, who has no criminal record, managed to escape.
Police hypothesize the motive relates to a rift from 20 years ago when they attended the same school. The background traces to March 2019, when the man was arrested for attempting to murder his sister and sentenced to ten years in prison. During that probe, police found a "death list" on his computer with about 15 names, including the victim.
In a 2019 interrogation, the man described the list as a reminder of people he hated: "Hat is the only thing that gives meaning to my life." The list was updated based on his mood, but the preparation-for-murder investigation was dropped. Prosecutor Mårten Alvinsson stated there was no evidence of collusion with others or punishable preparations like acquiring weapons.
After conditional release on January 17 this year, with 1,197 days left on his sentence, the man reportedly obtained a gun and located the victim's address. On Wednesday, the district court ordered him detained for one month on attempted murder and serious weapons charges, despite his denial of the attempt.
