Red Bull addresses rumours over Monaghan exit to Cadillac

Rumours have surfaced that Red Bull chief engineer Paul Monaghan is set to join Cadillac in a longer-term move. Team principal Laurent Mekies has expressed confidence in the squad's depth amid ongoing personnel changes.

During the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, reports emerged linking 58-year-old Monaghan with a departure from the Milton Keynes-based Red Bull team. RacingNews365 was first to report on Friday that he is heading to Cadillac, though neither team has commented officially.

Mekies acknowledged various rumours about team personnel but stressed that succession plans exist for senior figures. He said the team has incredible talent at all levels and will promote from within where needed, citing recent internal moves such as that of Ben Waterhouse.

On driver Max Verstappen, Mekies noted that only a fast car matters. He added that Verstappen is not being asked weekly about his future and is actively helping with development work to return the car to competitiveness.

Previous departures from Red Bull include Adrian Newey, Jonathan Wheatley, Will Courtenay and Rob Marshall, while Gianpiero Lambiase is scheduled to join McLaren in 2028.
