Simon & Schuster partners with The Black List on adaptations

Simon & Schuster has formed a partnership with The Black List to allow film and television professionals easier access to its book titles for potential adaptations. The deal provides metadata for more than 6,000 titles on the platform. Authors from various imprints stand to benefit from increased visibility among scouts.

The collaboration gives industry users the ability to search Simon & Schuster's catalog, which includes both fiction and nonfiction works. Featured imprints range from Atria Books and Scribner to Saga Press and Gallery Books.

As-yet-unadapted titles by authors such as William Kent Krueger, Sadeqa Johnson and Megan Miranda are now listed for consideration. The Black List platform also aids screenwriters and writers seeking agents or publishing deals.

Franklin Leonard, founder and CEO of The Black List, stated that efficient discovery has long been a challenge despite the value of books as source material for screen stories. The partnership aims to reduce friction in connecting publishers with production prospects.
