Texas father charged with murdering his infant son

Christopher Jenkins, 26, faces capital murder charges after admitting to police that he threw his 7-week-old son onto a bed and shook him, leading to the boy's death in July 2025. The incident occurred at their apartment in Baytown, Texas. Jenkins demonstrated the actions using a special investigative doll during a police walkthrough.

Police arrested Jenkins on Saturday and booked him into Harris County Jail, where he is held without bond. According to a criminal complaint and probable cause affidavit, Jenkins told investigators he spiked his crying son on the bed like a football because of excessive crying. 'There was too much crying in my mind,' Jenkins said. 'It just clicked.' He described how the boy 'bounced so high' before landing on the floor, then picked him up and shook him to check if he was alive, estimating about 15 minutes passed before 911 was called. The infant's mother, who was nearby, made the emergency call after Jenkins alerted her that the boy was not breathing. Medics found the child without a pulse, not breathing, with pink fluid from his mouth. An autopsy confirmed death by blunt force trauma to the head. Initially, Jenkins claimed he found the boy unconscious, but later admitted the full details during the apartment walkthrough using a SUIDI doll, a tool for infant death investigations. He threw the doll onto the bed to recreate the event, noting it flipped to the floor. A neighbor reported hearing Jenkins yell at the infant to 'shut the f— up' and witnessed a prior incident where he roughly handled the crying boy in a stroller.
