Two teenagers are being prosecuted at Falu District Court for sabotage related to the theft of two sirens, known as 'Hesa Fredrik', from the roof of Hushagsgymnasiet in Borlänge. The incident occurred during spring 2025, when the youths removed the sirens and mounted them on a car. According to the indictment, the sabotage prevented the sirens' use, stated as: 'The sirens are of significant importance for maintaining the defense and/or security of the realm.' 'Hesa Fredrik' sirens are used to warn the public during heightened alert levels and peacetime. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, MSB, has demanded 30,000 kronor in damages from the accused youths and an additional over 24,000 kronor from their parents. One suspect denies the crime entirely, while the other admits to theft but denies sabotage. Earlier reports note that stolen VMA sirens were replaced in Borlänge in October 2025 with enhanced security, and that Hesa Fredrik thefts puzzled MSB in summer 2025 with 'many in a short time'.
