20-year-old man arrested for bomb hoax comments on SCMP social media

Hong Kong police arrested a 20-year-old man on Friday on suspicion of posting bomb threat comments under a South China Morning Post Instagram post.

The man, surnamed Hui, posted the comments on Thursday night under an SCMP Instagram post titled “Hong Kong Disneyland rolls out afternoon tickets, extra cooling to beat the heat.”

One comment stated: “if there’s no typhoon by then there will be a bomb planted somewhere in the city and it will take the entire workday for it to be found and defused.”

He followed with: “Can I get into Disneyland with a fully automatic rifle?”

Police arrested him at his home on Friday on suspicion of making a bomb hoax. No gunpowder, explosives or political slogans were found at the premises.
