25-year-old man dies after motorcycle crash in Garzón

Yalder Alejandro Collazos, 25, died at Hospital Departamental San Vicente de Paúl from severe injuries sustained in a traffic accident in vereda Claros, Garzón municipality, Huila. The young man crashed his motorcycle into a tree after losing control while heading to the Zuluaga population center. Authorities are investigating the causes of the incident.

The accident took place last weekend on the road leading to the Zuluaga population center, in vereda Claros, six minutes from Garzón's urban center. Yalder Alejandro Collazos, who was driving the motorcycle, lost control and veered off the road, colliding violently with a tree. The impact left him motionless on the ground, meters from his vehicle.

Locals passing through the area witnessed the incident and immediately alerted emergency services. The young man received first aid on site and was taken to the local hospital's emergency unit. There, doctors diagnosed a severe traumatic brain injury leading to brain death. He remained in the Intensive Care Unit on life support for several days, but his body could not withstand it, and he passed away last Tuesday.

Once the death was confirmed, forensics units performed urgent procedures and removed the body, which was taken to the Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal for autopsy. Yalder was well-known in the community for his work as a delivery man for a local bakery, where he earned the appreciation of many residents for his dedication.

The news caused shock among family and friends, who expressed their grief on social media. Jessica Flórez wrote: “Rest in peace, Alejo, thanks for all those shared moments. Always in my heart.” Milena Tokora added: “Alejo, we'll miss you Saturday mornings when you came to deliver the bread order.” Andrés Ramírez said: “My great friend, very tough news. Thanks for your friendship, brother-in-law.”

Authorities are continuing investigations to clarify the circumstances of the accident, not ruling out factors such as speeding, mechanical failure, or road conditions.
