8.9 million students receive school feeding services, minister says

Education Minister Berhanu Nega announced that 8.9 million students are benefiting from the school feeding service during a performance review meeting in Addis Ababa.

Berhanu Nega highlighted achievements over the past five years that have expanded school feeding capacity. These include building and renovating schools as well as supplying textbooks.

Nine universities are in the process of gaining autonomy to improve teaching, research and community service. The minister noted progress on online national exams for grade 12 students.

Efforts to deliver the exams via the internet have reached more than 62 percent coverage this year. Work continues to extend this system to all grade 12 examinees.
