99 Egyptian companies showcase agricultural exports at Fruit Logistica 2026 in Berlin

Ninety-nine Egyptian companies specializing in agricultural produce took part in Fruit Logistica 2026, the world's leading trade fair for fresh fruits and vegetables, held in Berlin from February 4 to 6, 2026. The official Egyptian pavilion was inaugurated by Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, in the presence of key diplomats and officials. The event highlighted Egypt's strong competitive position in the European agricultural market.

The Egyptian Commercial Representation organized Egypt's participation in Fruit Logistica 2026, recognized as the premier global exhibition for fresh fruits and vegetables. Ninety-nine Egyptian exporters of fresh fruits, vegetables, and dates targeted European and worldwide markets. The official Egyptian pavilion housed 43 companies across about 582 square meters, while major Egyptian firms joined independently, drawing substantial interest from international visitors and buyers.

The pavilion was inaugurated by Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, attended by Mohamed El-Badry, Egypt's Ambassador to Berlin; Essam El-Naggar, Chairperson of the Egypt Expo & Convention Authority; and Tarek El-Houby, Chairperson of the National Food Safety Authority. Coordination was led by the Egyptian Commercial Service in Berlin, under Minister Plenipotentiary Maha Zakaria and Commercial Attaché Mostafa Hassan, alongside Hany Hussein, Executive Director of the Agricultural Export Council, and officials from the General Organization for Exhibitions and Conferences.

Participating companies voiced optimism for new trade partnerships and emphasized adopting advanced agricultural technologies to improve quality and integrate into global supply chains. Prior to the event, the Commercial Service held an introductory seminar covering Germany's key imported crops, European market requirements, and wholesale price lists from the German Ministry of Agriculture for January 2026.

During the fair, the service arranged a meeting between the minister and Dutch firms involved in potato, berry, vegetable, and seed production, plus agricultural consultancy. Talks centered on production methods and potential collaboration, with the minister inviting them to Cairo to propose partnerships enhancing Egyptian exports to Europe.

Abdel Aziz El-Sherif, First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service, stated: "Continued participation in Fruit Logistica opens new opportunities for Egyptian fruit and vegetable exporters in Europe." Egypt's agricultural exports to Germany from January to October 2025 reached approximately €161 million, a 25.7% rise from €128 million in 2024. Leading products included grapes (€69.9 million, +37%), potatoes (€31.4 million), onions (€12 million), sweet potatoes (€12 million), oranges (€9.8 million), and strawberries (€8.8 million).
