Agustín Caulo replaces Nahuel Sotelo as secretary of worship

Nahuel Sotelo has resigned as secretary of worship and civilization to take up a provincial legislator role in Buenos Aires, to be replaced by his deputy Agustín Caulo. The change was formalized by decree 937/2025, signed by the president and the foreign minister. Caulo, close to Santiago Caputo, brings experience in Catholic affairs and diplomacy.

Nahuel Sotelo, 30 years old and a member of La Libertad Avanza, held the position of secretary of worship from August 2024 until early December 2024. His resignation was formalized on January 2, 2025, via decree 937/2025, published in the Official Gazette, to allow him to swear in as a provincial deputy in the Buenos Aires Legislature. Sotelo had anticipated this move after being elected in the September 7, 2024, elections. In an Instagram post, he stated: “Once again I return to swear as in 2021, when I was fighting almost alone for the defense of the ideas of freedom,” and swore by “God, Homeland, Life and Freedom”.

Agustín Caulo, previously the undersecretary of worship and civilization, will take the top role in the agency under the Foreign Ministry. Caulo rose in the ranks after Francisco Sánchez's departure and also serves as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador, appointed by decree 848/2024 in September 2024. Close to Santiago Caputo, he is Catholic with evangelical ties and a key figure in Frente Joven, an organization active in Argentina and Ecuador focused on territorial militancy for children and mothers, with antifeminist activism. Several members of this group, including Caulo's wife, are in the national administration.

The shift highlights internal movements in the libertarian government, where Sotelo was second in command. No contradictions appear in the sources regarding the main facts.
