Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton have each been handed three-place grid drops for the 2026 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix following incidents in qualifying at the Hungaroring.
Mercedes driver Antonelli was penalised for not slowing sufficiently under yellow flags in the final corner during his last Q3 run. He had initially qualified fourth but will now start seventh after the stewards determined his speed reduction was insufficient.
Ferrari's Hamilton received the same penalty for impeding McLaren's Oscar Piastri in Turn 1. This moves Piastri up to third on the grid, with Max Verstappen joining him on the second row.
Lando Norris took pole position for McLaren. George Russell will start seventh after avoiding a grid drop despite needing a new engine for Sunday's race due to a water leak.
The provisional starting grid places Norris ahead of Charles Leclerc in second, followed by Piastri, Verstappen, Hamilton, Russell and Antonelli.
