Mexican banks will suspend public operations on Friday, December 12, for Bankers' Day. The Mexican Banking Association announced that over 50 banks will close branches, though those in shopping centers will keep regular hours.
The Mexican Banking Association (ABM) has announced that, according to the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV) guidelines, banks across the country will not open their branches on Friday, December 12. This closure honors Bankers' Day, a non-working day to acknowledge financial sector employees' contributions. It impacts more than 50 banking institutions nationwide.
However, branches inside commercial stores and supermarkets will maintain their standard schedules, allowing customers access to essential services. For transactions, the ABM points to over 65,000 ATMs, 58,000 banking agents, and round-the-clock digital and phone banking options available every day of the year.
Under the Law for Transparency and Financial Services Regulation, payments due on a non-working day can be made the next business day. The ABM advises users to complete any staff-assisted operations ahead of time to prevent disruptions. The suspension was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, confirming its official status in Mexico's financial sector.
