Bihar government renames Patna zoo and dairy technology institute

The BJP-led government in Bihar renamed the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park as Patna Zoo and the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology as Bihar State Institute of Dairy Technology on April 29, 2026. The decisions were taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.

The Bihar government has renamed two key institutions. In a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park was renamed Patna Zoo and the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology became the Bihar State Institute of Dairy Technology.

The BJP-led administration, under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, approved these changes. The Patna Zoo has long been known locally by that name, while the dairy institute's new title emphasizes its state-level focus.

These decisions came alongside cabinet approvals for funding welfare projects, education enhancements, and infrastructure improvements. The moves aim to give the institutions a more localized and state-oriented identity.
