Williams driver Carlos Sainz said the team's upgrade package introduced at the Miami Grand Prix is the specification it should have started the 2026 Formula 1 season with. The Spaniard finished ninth and helped the team score its first points of the year in a double finish with Alex Albon.
Sainz placed ninth in the Miami race and led Albon home for Williams' first points haul of the campaign. The result moved the team clear of Audi into eighth place in the constructors' championship. The upgrade focused on removing excess weight from a car delayed by pre-season build issues.
