Cold front 11 arrives in Mexico with Halloween

Cold front number 11 moves over southeastern Mexico and the Yucatán Peninsula, bringing cold temperatures and frost to various regions just in time for Halloween and Day of the Dead. The National Water Commission (Conagua) forecasts lows of -5 to 0 degrees in mountainous areas of states like Chihuahua and Puebla. Rain is expected in the southeast, with showers in other areas.

The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that cold front 11 will affect northern, central, and eastern Mexico, with a polar air mass maintaining cold conditions and frost in the Northern Plateau and Central Plateau. During Friday morning, minimum temperatures of -5 to 0 degrees Celsius are forecast in mountainous areas of Baja California, Chihuahua, Durango, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Hidalgo, Mexico State, Tlaxcala, Puebla, and Veracruz. In other mountainous areas of Sonora, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Morelos, and Oaxaca, lows will range from 0 to 5 degrees.

Regarding precipitation, Conagua expects rain in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, and Campeche, intervals of showers in Michoacán and Guerrero, and isolated rains in Puebla, Sinaloa, Durango, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo. On Friday, October 31, the front will enter the Caribbean Sea and cease affecting the Mexican Republic.

On Saturday, November 1, the associated polar air mass will modify its thermal characteristics, allowing a gradual rise in temperatures across much of the territory. However, a new cold front 12 will approach from Saturday to Monday, November 3, interacting with a low-pressure channel in the northeast and east, increasing the likelihood of rains and showers in those regions. This front will cause strong wind gusts in the north and, starting Sunday, showers and heavy rains in the northeast, east, southeast, and Yucatán Peninsula.
