Egyptian maestro Nayer Nagui to lead Grand Egyptian Museum orchestra

Renowned Egyptian maestro Nayer Nagui will lead the orchestra at the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum on November 1. The event fulfills a 20-year dream through tremendous effort, featuring Egyptian and international artists. Its artistic vision is new and unique, aiming to dazzle the world with ancient and contemporary Egyptian civilization.

Maestro Nayer Nagui expressed his honor in participating in the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), describing it as a world-class event. Nagui told Al-Masry Al-Youm: 'participating in a world-class event like the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is an honor for any artist,' noting that the event has been a dream for 20 years and was finally realized through tremendous effort.

Nagui told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the artistic vision for the official opening ceremony is 'very new and unique,' featuring the participation of artists from all over the world alongside distinguished Egyptian artists in a singular musical unity. Nagui, one of Egypt’s most prominent conductors who has previously led international orchestras such as the Vienna Formation Orchestra, will lead the GEM opening ceremony orchestra.

The score was composed by Egyptian musician Hesham Nazih, with 121 Egyptian musicians participating in an ensemble that includes artists from 79 countries around the world, all under the baton of Maestro Nagui. All solo instrumentalists performing in the program are Egyptian, and the orchestra will feature an entirely Egyptian brass section and choir, complemented by international participation to add a universal, human touch to the celebration of Egyptian civilization.

The preparation aims for a historic event that will dazzle the world with the beauty and grandeur of both ancient and contemporary Egyptian civilization.
