Family of Rachel Wandeto demands justice after her death

The family of gospel singer Rachel Wandeto has called on police to speed up investigations into the attack that led to her death.

Family spokesperson Susan Wandeto said yesterday that the family is saddened by the incident and wants the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to proceed with its probe without interference.

Wandeto died at Kenyatta National Hospital after sustaining severe injuries in an attack by unknown assailants in Mwiki, Kasarani. She suffered injuries to about 70 percent of her body and is survived by two children.

Women leaders held a protest yesterday in Nairobi condemning violence against women. The family also wants the government to assist with plans for a dignified burial and to ensure suspects are arrested quickly.
