Franco Colapinto crashed during the second practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix on Thursday. Alpine team principal Flavio Briatore posted a message of support on social media.
The 23-year-old Argentine driver lost control of his Alpine in the final corner of the Hungarian track. The car spun and hit the tire barrier half an hour into the session.
The team confirmed that Colapinto was in perfect condition. Briatore responded to criticism with a video on Instagram saying: “Seguimos adelante, Franco”. The team’s official statement added: “Mañana es un nuevo día, Franco”.
Colapinto did not take part in the first practice because Estonian reserve driver Paul Aron took his seat to comply with rookie regulations. The Argentine stated before the weekend that he was focused only on driving and improving the car.
