Flooding submerges one RT and eight roads in Jakarta

Heavy rain hit Jakarta on January 22, 2026, causing flooding in one neighborhood unit and eight roads across West, North, and South Jakarta. Water levels reached up to 50 centimeters, disrupting residents' mobility and traffic. The Jakarta BPBD has deployed teams for swift response.

Heavy rain struck the DKI Jakarta area and surroundings on Thursday, January 22, 2026, triggering floods at multiple points. The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported one neighborhood unit (RT) in Sukabumi Selatan Subdistrict, West Jakarta, submerged under 40 centimeters of water. Additionally, eight roads were affected across North, West, and South Jakarta.

In North Jakarta, flooding hit Jalan Gaya Motor Raya and Jalan Gaya Motor 1 and 2 in Sungai Bambu Subdistrict, with depths of 30 to 50 centimeters. Jalan Gaya Motor 3 had 10 centimeters of water. In West Jakarta, Jalan Srengseng Raya saw 20 centimeters, Jalan Daan Mogot KM 13 in Cengkareng Timur 25 centimeters, and Fly Over Pesing in Kedaung Kali Angke Subdistrict 10 centimeters.

In South Jakarta, Jalan Pulo Raya IV in Petogogan Subdistrict was flooded to 10 centimeters. The impact disrupted traffic toward Grogol, especially along Daan Mogot to Fly Over Pesing. West Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit's KBO, AKP Sudarmo, noted flooding at the U-turn Samsat Daan Mogot reached 10-15 centimeters, still passable but slowing vehicles.

"U-turn Samsat Daan Mogot from Cengkareng toward Grogol has a height of 10 to 15 cm and is still passable," said AKP Sudarmo. At Fly Over Pesing toward Grogol, 5-10 centimeters of water caused slowdowns up to Taman Kota.

Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta's Data and Information Center for Disasters, Mohamad Yohan, confirmed, “Based on preliminary data, there is currently one RT and eight roads flooded due to heavy rain.” BPBD deployed personnel for water pumping, ensuring drains function properly, and coordinated with relevant agencies and local government. These efforts aim to quickly recede the flooding and provide basic aid to affected residents.
