IIBGroup expands Chevening partnership to Ethiopia

IIBGroup has expanded its Chevening scholarship partnership to include Ethiopia for the 2026-2027 academic year. A signing ceremony took place on 2 June in Addis Ababa. The move adds one fully funded scholarship in Ethiopia to existing ones in Cabo Verde and Djibouti.

The formal signing ceremony occurred at the UK Ambassador’s residence in Addis Ababa. It was attended by UK Ambassador Darren Welch and IIBGroup Chairman Sohail Sultan along with other representatives. Sohail Sultan highlighted the impact of past scholars and the importance of education for development across emerging markets. Darren Welch noted the partnership will support Ethiopian talent in the financial sector and connections to the London market. The Chevening programme provides postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom along with mentorship from IIBGroup. IIBGroup operates in East Africa, the Middle East, West Africa and the Caribbean with a focus on banking and investment.
