Jonathan commiserates with Amaechi over mother’s death

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed sadness over the passing of Dame Mary Amaechi, mother of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Jonathan issued a statement through his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Ikechukwu Eze, on Saturday in Abuja. He extended heartfelt sympathies to Amaechi, the entire family and all mourners.

The former president described the death of a mother as a profound loss. He noted that the late Mrs Amaechi lived a life of exemplary devotion to God, family and community, earning admiration for her faith, compassion and commitment to peace.

Jonathan prayed for strength and comfort for Amaechi, who is the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, and the family. He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed matriarch.
