Josep Maria Recasens favored to become new Indra CEO

Indra's appointments committee met on Monday to select candidates for chief executive. Josep Maria Recasens, a Renault executive, heads the list to replace José Vicente de los Mozos.

The board vote is scheduled for Tuesday. Sources close to the process indicate that Recasens is the leading candidate, although the final decision remains open.

Recasens currently serves as director of Strategy, Product and Programs at Renault Group and president of Renault Group Spain. His industrial background aligns with Indra's defense expansion plans.

Other names considered include Eva Azoulay, chief executive of ITP Aero, and an executive linked to Siemens Gamesa. An ITP Aero spokesperson denied that Azoulay is involved in the process.

Indra's board meeting on Wednesday resulted in no changes to top management, with Ángel Escribano remaining president and José Vicente de los Mozos as CEO. The state-owned SEPI, holding 28% stake, did not push for alterations due to lack of support and recent stock declines. Funds like T. Rowe Price raised their stake above 5% backing Escribano.

Ángel Escribano resigned on Wednesday as executive president and board member of Indra, citing government pressures and personal weariness. SEPI, the largest shareholder with 28% of the capital, proposed Ángel Simón as replacement. The board has started the succession process led by Virginia Arce.
