Kaduna police arrest 41 suspected kidnappers, rescue 7 victims

Kaduna State Police Command arrested 41 suspects linked to kidnapping and violent crimes, rescuing seven victims in operations during March and April 2026. Commissioner Rabiu Muhammad announced the achievements to journalists on Monday.

Kaduna State Police Command Commissioner Rabiu Muhammad told journalists on Monday that the force recorded breakthroughs against kidnapping and violent crimes through intelligence-led operations and sustained crackdowns on criminal networks across the state.

The command arrested 41 suspects and rescued seven kidnapped victims between March and April 2026. Officers recovered 24 firearms, 200 rounds of live ammunition, and 50 rustled cows during the period.

One key arrest was that of suspected gunrunner Samaila Ilyasu in Kagarko Local Government Area, where 20 locally fabricated Dane guns were recovered. Additional suspected kidnappers and informants were nabbed in Makarfi, Kachia, Giwa, and Kauru local government areas.

In Kubau LGA, a joint operation with the Civilian Joint Task Force led to the arrest of two suspects from a kidnapping syndicate, with efforts ongoing to apprehend fleeing members. Detectives also intercepted 200 rounds of ammunition hidden in a sack of guinea corn, arresting two suspects from Zamfara State.

Muhammad said, “These achievements underscore our resolve to rid Kaduna State of criminal elements and ensure the safety of all residents.” He credited the successes to Inspector-General of Police Olutunji Disu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, urging residents to provide credible information to security agencies.
