Man drowns in Paris Canal Saint-Martin

An adult man drowned on Friday in the Canal Saint-Martin outside supervised areas and hours.

Paris firefighters responded at Quai de Valmy in the 10th arrondissement. The man could not be resuscitated and died at the scene.

Paris mayor Emmanuel Grégoire stressed that swimming outside supervised areas and opening hours is dangerous. District mayor Alexandra Cordebard expressed thoughts for the victim’s relatives.

The canal has been open for bathing due to the heatwave and has drawn many Parisians in recent days.
