Maxime Pellegrini targets becoming first Indonesian in NBA

Fourteen-year-old basketball player Maxime Pellegrini has drawn attention after a viral social media moment. The French-Indonesian youth has collected several titles and aims to become the first Indonesian in the NBA.

Maxime Pellegrini began playing basketball at age 10. He finished runner-up at the Merpati Cup Bali and won the Lion Cup Surabaya. He also placed third in the 2025 BBYL League and earned MVP honors.

Internationally, Maxime won the FIBA Christmas Cup 2026 in Czechoslovakia. He also claimed the World Youth Championship KU-14 title in Perth, Australia, in April 2026. Recently he led UNO club to the KU-15 championship at Achillesport in Medan and collected three MVPs.

Maxime currently trains at Bali Basketball Academy. He stated he will compete in three other countries in the coming months if nothing prevents it. A fan of Anthony Edwards, he is determined to become the first Indonesian to play in the NBA.
