Mets sign top draft pick Carson Wiggins

The New York Mets have signed right-handed pitcher Carson Wiggins, their top selection in the 2026 MLB Draft. The deal is worth $3,466,500, matching the full slot value for the 27th overall pick.

The agreement was announced on Wednesday. Wiggins, 21, is coming off Tommy John surgery after tearing his UCL during his freshman season at the University of Arkansas.

Mets vice president of amateur scouting Kris Gross called Wiggins an electric arm with premium velocity and two swing-and-miss breaking pitches. He noted the player’s fastball reached 102 mph and said the team is confident he will develop further in their system.

Wiggins could appear in minor league games later this summer. The deadline to sign draft picks is July 27.

The younger brother of Cubs prospect Jaxon Wiggins, Carson also throws an upper-80s slider and a mid-80s changeup.
