The National Electoral Council confirmed the candidates for the June 21 runoff after the May 31 elections.
The National Electoral Council officially declared the results of the first round presidential election on June 4, 2026. Abelardo de la Espriella of the Defensores de la Patria movement obtained 43.73 percent of the votes, while Iván Cepeda Castro of the Pacto Histórico reached 40.91 percent. The count covered 99.98 percent of the more than 122,000 polling stations installed. The match between the preliminary count and the official count was 99.94 percent, and claims represented less than 0.7 percent of the stations. The president of the CNE, magistrate Cristian Ricardo Quiroz Romero, thanked the Registraduría, Procuraduría, Defensoría del Pueblo and citizens for their participation. He noted that the process developed with institutional normality. For the runoff, the CNE approved up to two electoral witnesses per station and per scrutiny commission. The accreditation deadline ends on June 18 at 5:00 p.m. in Colombia.
