One person was stabbed and 13 were arrested, six of them minors, after a fight between two groups in Barcelona's metro past midnight from Saturday to Sunday. The incident took place at El Coll i la Teixonera station in the Nou Barris district. Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the motives behind the clash.
The incident occurred around 00:00 on the night from Saturday to Sunday at the platform of El Coll i la Teixonera metro station on Line 5, during a fight between two groups, sources policiales confirmed to Crónica Global and EL PAÍS.
Catalan police, Mossos d'Esquadra, received notice of the incident around 00:10 and dispatched units to El Coll i la Teixonera station and the next stop, Vall d'Hebron, where some of those involved had headed.
There, after reviewing security camera footage and gathering statements from witnesses and metro guards, officers arrested 13 people, six of them minors. The detainees are charged with alleged injuries and riotous fighting; the minors will be handed over to the prosecutor's office shortly.
The victim, who managed to flee the scene, received treatment at a medical center and his life is not in danger, though Mossos are investigating him. From the other group, only two young people were identified, one being the stabbed individual. It remains unknown whether the groups had arranged to fight or if the encounter was chance, and the case is under investigation.
