Planned attack at Puebla bar leaves three dead

An armed attack outside the Sala de Despecho bar in Angelópolis, Puebla, left three people dead and four injured in the early hours of February 14. Authorities confirmed the incident was planned a month in advance by the attackers. Four alleged perpetrators were detained following a police operation.

The attack took place around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, outside the Sala de Despecho bar, located on Bulevar Osa Mayor in Puebla's Angelópolis area. A group of armed individuals on motorcycles opened fire on people preparing to board a Mercedes Benz van as they left the establishment. The fatalities included two men and one woman, all aged 25 to 30, with multiple gunshot wounds. Four other people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals.

Francisco Sánchez González, head of Puebla's Public Security Secretariat (SSP), revealed that the crime was premeditated a month in advance. "It was something planned, something conceived. These people rented an apartment very close to the place. They were practicing or acting very detailedly," the official told media outlets. According to interviews with the detained, the attackers stayed in a nearby residence, left vehicles and motorcycles, planned the assault, carried it out, fled through a ravine, and hid.

Sánchez González stressed the need to identify the intellectual author and motives, describing the plan as detailed and hard to prevent. Following the incident, an operation involving a helicopter, drones, and ground elements from the State and Municipal Police led to the detention of four alleged perpetrators and the securing of two motorcycles linked to the events.

The Puebla State Attorney General's Office (FGE) began investigations with expert analyses, ballistic examinations, and interviews to determine the motive. Puebla's mayor, Pepe Chedraui, praised the coordination among the three levels of government and the use of technology in the arrests.
