The mayor of Aguilar de Campoo and PP senator María José Ortega was airlifted to the ICU at Hospital Universitario de Burgos after a traffic accident on Saturday afternoon.
The accident occurred shortly before 14:25 on the provincial road PP-2201 at kilometer 3, after a festive event in the hamlet of Menaza. The vehicle, driven by councilor Jesús Manuel Sevilla, was hit in a frontolateral collision.
Also traveling were Sevilla’s wife and his 25-year-old daughter. The mayor was evacuated by medical helicopter to Burgos, while the councilor and the young woman were taken by conventional ambulance to Hospital Río Carrión in Palencia, according to the 112 Castilla y León emergency service.
Ortega is a PP senator and mayor of Aguilar de Campoo. The incident was reported by the newspaper El Norte de Castilla.
