Rocío Carrasco, daughter of singer Rocío Jurado, speaks to EL PAÍS about the documentary premiering on June 25 and her mother's impact twenty years after her death.
Rocío Jurado died on June 1, 2006, at the age of 61. She sold 20 million records and earned 150 gold and 60 platinum albums. Her daughter Rocío Carrasco, aged 49 and universal heir, says she now sees her mother as a myth.
Carrasco takes part in the four-chapter documentary La más grande, which premieres on June 25 on Movistar Plus+ and is directed by Alexis Morante. The work features an unpublished autobiography by the singer.
The daughter recalls the funeral that brought the country to a standstill but prefers not to dwell on that day. She notes that Jurado became a myth upon her death and that her legacy lives on through covers and tributes by diverse artists.
