The Pittsburgh Steelers are still drawing acclaim for their 2026 NFL Draft selections months after the event. General manager Omar Khan led the effort to add players seen as fits for the team's culture.
Analyst Rhett Lewis highlighted the class during a SiriusXM NFL Radio appearance. He said the Steelers and Khan drafted players who represent the organization's identity as well as any team.
Lewis pointed to third-round offensive lineman Gennings Dunker from Iowa, fifth-round fullback Riley Nowakowski, wide receiver Germie Bernard and offensive tackle Max Iheanachor from Arizona State. He noted their fit with the Steelers' emphasis on physical play and maturity.
Additional observers echoed the sentiment. The Athletic's Brian DeFabo called Dunker the team's most physically imposing lineman, while former quarterback Charlie Batch compared him to Hall of Famer Alan Faneca. Hines Ward, who coached Iheanachor at Arizona State, said the tackle possesses the Steelers mentality.
