TNI prepares field hospitals and ambulances for Gaza

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) have prepared 20,000 personnel along with medical and construction equipment for a peacekeeping mission in Gaza, as planned by President Prabowo Subianto. These personnel are experienced in humanitarian tasks, while deployment awaits approval from the government and the UN. Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin outlined two alternatives for securing international endorsement.

The Head of the TNI Information Center, Maj. Gen. TNI (Mar) Freddy Ardianzah, stated that the TNI has prepared special health equipment to be sent with 20,000 personnel to Gaza. These personnel consist of health and Zeni Konstruksi units, experienced in non-war military operations (OMSP) and United Nations (UN) missions.

The prepared equipment includes field hospital facilities, emergency medical gear, ambulances, clean water and sanitation supplies, as well as heavy machinery for reconstruction. Freddy explained that this will serve war victims and build public facilities. "Such as field hospital facilities, emergency medical equipment, ambulances, clean water and sanitation supplies, and Zeni construction capabilities including heavy equipment and reconstruction facilities," Freddy said when confirmed on November 15, 2025.

The personnel come from units routinely trained in OMSP and UN missions, so their basic capabilities are already established. They only need additional training for final preparation. As of now, the TNI is awaiting approval from the government and the UN.

Previously, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin responded to President Prabowo Subianto's plan by mentioning two alternatives for endorsement. "There are two alternatives. The first alternative is under the auspices of the United Nations (UN)," Sjafrie said on October 14. The second is through an international organization initiated by the US President. Indonesia has long cooperated with the UN in conflict areas like Africa and Lebanon, and requires support from Arab states such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
